INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY FOR ANMAL GENETICS, XI'AN, CHINA, JUL 1, 2014

THE 34th CONFERENCE of the International Society of Animal Genetics (ISAG) will be held in July 2014 in Xi’an, China.

ISAG is devoted to the study of the immunogenetics, molecular genetics and functional genomics of economically important domesticated animals. It is a scientific society that promotes scientific research and facilitates communication and dissemination of knowledge among scientists worldwide. For the first time in its remarkable 60 years history, the conference is now moving to China.

China, known as one of the Four Great Ancient Civilizations, has a long and splendid history that lasts for thousands of years. Ever since the Neolithic era, China has gradually transformed to an agricultural society. The development of agriculture as well as the livestock culturing over the course of its history has never stopped. The long history of animal domestication and vast geographical variety of China provides rich resources for scientific researches. Meanwhile, the past two decades have witnessed a dramatic progress of animal sciences and technologies made in China.

Xi’an is located in northwest China, records the great changes of the country just like a living history book. Together with Athens, Cairo and Rome, Xi’an is regarded as one of four major ancient civilization capitals of the world. Called Chang'an (meaning the eternal city) in ancient times, it is one of the birthplaces of the ancient Chinese civilization in the Yellow River Basin area. As the eastern terminal of the Silk Road and the site of the famous Terracotta Warriors of the Qin Dynasty, the city has won a reputation all over the world. More than 3,000 years of history including over 1,100 years as the capital city of ancient Chinese dynasties, have endowed Xi’an with amazing historical heritages, such as Terracotta Warriors, Ancient City Wall, Big Goose Pagoda, Huaqing Hot Spring, Famen Temple and so much more.

Today Xi'an is a modern Chinese city, the political, economic and cultural center of Northwest China. Besides the excellent accommodation options and the outstanding Convention Centre, the city will offer you unforgettable entertaining and shopping experiences, and of course, the wonderful Chinese food.

We cordially invite you to attend the 34th ISAG Conference in Xi’an China 2014.
